Purpose of PD:Instruct teachers on specific technology use and integration in daily class curriculums. Assignments, assessments, communication and DIGITAL managEment.
The increase in use of technology and online applications is growing
- As of 2021, approximately 150 million users use Google Classroom worldwide, 100% increase since 2019. (Todorov, 2023)- 15 million primary and secondary school students use Google Classroom in 2017 and that has increased to 40 million as of 2022 (primarily HS). (Todorov, 2023)- January of 2022 saw Google Classroom record it's largest monthly download at over 600,000 in 30 days.(Todorov, 2023)
Teachers will understand how to navigate Google Classroom and use it many features.
Teachers will be more proficient in the implementation of digital applications for learning and collaboration.
Teachers will understand how to differentiate instruction through Goggle Classroom.
Teachers will understand how to increase student engagement through Google Classroom.
Essential Questions for today's Professional development:
How can we organize our class content/curriculum on Google Classroom?
Question 1:
How can instruction for our classroom and students differeniate using Google Classroom?
How can we promote school, teacher, administration and student communication through Google Classroom?
Question 2:
Before we get into groups, let's get to know one another and loosen up the environment. My N.A.M.E Activity:1. In groups of 3-5 take 5 minutes to think of interesting facts that correspond to the letter of their first name.2. Have group members share their acronym. 3. For example....HEATHERH is for horses, my favorite animal.E is for eating, my favorite activity.A is for Australia, the country I would like to travel to.T is for T.V. which is what I do to relax.H is for holidays, something I look forward to. E is for exercise, which I do 4 times a week.R is for Rome, a city I traveled to last summer.
PD Group Ice Breaker
Objectives for pd:.
Teachers will be able to create course work in Google Classroom and add content/resources for students to access to aid in completion.
Objective 1:
Teachers will be able to create and implement assessments for students online and in real time.
Objective 3:
Teachers will be able to create and manage students individually, in small or large groups and differentiate instruction based on groups.
Objective 2:
- Understanding of how to create and navigate a Google Classroom.- Ability to demonstrate student engagement through discussion and collaboration through Google Classroom.- Ability to demonstrate differentiated instruction through Google Classroom.- Ability to create and facilitate assignments and assessments online.
Teachers participating in today's PD will be assessed on the following:
Performance Tasks for PD:
Collaborative/peer grop work for pd objectives:.
Teachers in groups of 2-3 will work on chromebooks to create classrooms using Google for each of their periods and work together to set them up.Each group must create 1 assignment with resources/material, 1 assessment and 1 class wide announcement for their students to read and respond to.For additional assistance please raise your hand.
