I applied to William and Mary spontaneously at the end of VCAW, but now I actually kinda want to get accepted. I put 2 optional essays on my application. The first one was 150/300 words, but answered the prompt and was decently written.

I was wondering how optional these college “optional essays” really are. The two that I had in mind are William and Mary’s Optional 500 word essay about the applicant (can’t they just refer to the personal statement? ugh) and NYU’s optional “community service” essay.
