In numerous nations, educational institutions face serious difficulties with their pupils’ conduct. This essay will suggest that poor parenting is the root cause of this phenomenon and submit that a public awareness campaign is the most viable solution, followed by a reasoned conclusion.

The principal cause of poor discipline in schools is poor discipline at home. Many mothers and fathers either do not have the time or skills to teach their youngsters the value of manners and respecting authority. This results in many young people not listening to their teachers, being rude and actively rebelling against rules and regulations. For example, a recent study by Cambridge University found that 1 in 3 teenagers would refuse to comply with a rule if they didn’t agree with it, compared to just 1 in 8 in a similar study in 1990.

The most practical solution to this problem is a government-sponsored awareness campaign. An effective advertising campaign could warn of the dangers of misbehaviour and, hopefully, raise awareness amongst the public.  For example, the United Kingdom recently lobbied their citizens to teach their children about the importance of respecting teachers, which resulted in a dramatic improvement.

In summary, widespread negative behaviour in the classroom has been caused by caregivers not instilling the values of deference and civility in their offspring; however, this can be tackled through a public education programme that promotes these values. It is also recommended that people should attend parenting classes before their child starts kindergarten.

In many countries, the manner in which students conduct themselves in school is quite distressing . There are numerous reasons behind this development that have led to such alarming behavior in young children, especially adolescents . In the following paragraphs, I will elaborate on the causes and possible solutions to tackle this issue.

To begin with, children lack proper awareness of the diversions around them due to a lack of adult supervision. For example, since most parents are working professionals who do not have the time to educate their children on the good and bad, these young people crave attention and easily go astray . Additionally, unbridled access to social media and video games exposes them to violent activities that are imitated by them to stand out among their mates. Further, excessive pressure created due to academic competition and societal comparisons forces some students to act out. For instance, students either go into depression due to demotivation or become vicious towards classmates who are better than them. Therefore, these factors, coupled with unhealthy lifestyles and peer pressure, tend to make students unruly , which is reflected in their etiquette at school.

There are several measures that can be taken by the elders to manage the misconduct of students at school and at home. Firstly, parents, irrespective of their busy schedules, should take time to look after their wards. For instance, spouses should divide their chores among themselves and interact with the children before bedtime, and occasionally, make them feel special through various activities. Secondly, involving grandparents in the upbringing of the child can give both company and help them to learn from each other. Thirdly, teachers should be careful not to compare the students, as each child has unique capabilities and may not achieve the same thing. Lastly, both family members and teachers should control access to the internet or cruel games that might affect the child’s psyche .

To sum up, guardians or parents should motivate the students for their efforts and take care of their surroundings so that external influences or bad lifestyle do not affect their demeanor and make them ill-tempered.

The constant exposure to violent or inappropriate content desensitizes students to aggressive behavior, making them more prone to acting out inappropriately. To address these issues, schools should prioritize fostering a strong sense of community. In conclusion, the severe problems with student behavior in schools stem from a combination of factors. Student Behavior Observation Essay

The target behavior in this case is being focused on work. It means that the student should not ask questions, make noises, be distracted, or distract others. When the time is up students should put their pencils down at once. It is necessary to note that all the students put their pencils down when they were told to.

It is possible to note that only one student (out of five) (he was sitting in the middle of the front row) revealed appropriate behavior during the entire test. It is possible to note that his behavior was 100% appropriate, as he was not distracted by anything. He focused on his work and followed the teacher’s instructions. The boy in the first row (on the right) also exhibited appropriate behavior almost all the time. His proper behavior was interrupted only twice when he was distracted by the noises another boy was making and asked him to stop (04:35) and when he raised his hand to ask a question (08:07). The boy in the front row (on the left) was exhibiting appropriate behavior during the first part of the test. Then, he seemed to be distracted as he drew and he used his eraser with no vivid purpose (04:08, 05:07). Though, this behavior could be explained by the fact that the boy completed the task. He stopped working and he was sitting quietly. Thus, it is possible to note that his behavior was quite appropriate, as he did not do any of the inappropriate actions mentioned above. The boy in the back row (on the left) revealed quite appropriate behavior during the exam except for two occasions. He dropped his pencil unintentionally (03:04) and he had to respond to his neighbor who distracted him (06:34, 06:55). However, it is possible to note that he still revealed quite an appropriate behavior most of the time.

The boy in the back row (on the right) revealed an inappropriate behavior as he made noises with his pencil (01:01, 08:34, 14:43), he was humming (02:39, 02:48, 10:28), he made noises with his feet (04:19, 11:09, 11:32), he dropped his pencil (though it could be unintentional) (05:50), he raised his hand to ask a question (06:17, 12:18, 12:34), he distracted another boy by asking questions (06:34, 06:55, 13:00, 13:39). He behaved in an appropriate way for short periods after the teacher’s remarks.

It is possible to state that the majority of students revealed appropriate behavior during the entire test. Nonetheless, only one boy exhibited 100% appropriate behavior.

The observation was not a very difficult task as it was not very long and there were only five participants. It was quite convenient to observe the students’ behaviors through viewing the video recording, as the observer could go back to some parts of the test. However, this opportunity was not used very often, as there were only five boys. It is noteworthy that the boys’ desks were located in a very convenient way and every student could be seen. At the same time, it was sometimes difficult to mark the behaviors of all the students, as there were times when several boys behaved inappropriately and it was necessary to make notes on those behaviors. It can be difficult to observe behaviors without using technology especially when many participants take part in the test.

Initial thoughts: Ms. Rollison needs to understand that students behave differently which will require a different way to approach their behavior. In most cases, when a student is acting out it is due to something stressful they are experiencing. A young student does not communicate their wants and needs well, this causes them to express their emotion is not the best manner. When children need are not met they will misbehave more frequently. Therefore, Ms. Rollison will need to understand and have patience with the student because there is always a reason behind why the student is misbehaving. Final thoughts: Students behavior can be influenced by many things such as their cultural influences, living situation, and what they are exposed to. Ms. Rollison needs to be aware of the cultural influence that affects the student’s behavior. Every culture is different and it influences how a student will interact and respond to authority. Culture can influence the way they talk with their peers, views on sharing, and the way they act all around. Having many students with different culture background leads to a diverse class with different views on how they act toward their peers. Ms. Rollison needs to approach the classroom with an open mind and interact with the kids and learn their behaviors. Moreover, she needs to learn what impact their behavior and understand that not everybody views the world the same because outside factors play a role in the student’s behavior. Something that Ms. Rollison views as being impolite or rude, might be seen as something suitable in her student’s culture. Understanding other students culture is extremely important because when she creates her classroom management plan, she will know what will be appropriate for her students. I find an effective tool for managing behaviour is to set firm ground rules at the beginning of the course. These include clear boundaries, and expectations. If this can be done in consultation with the students it can be extremely effective, as it gives them the responsibility of managing each other’s behavior. It is useful to note however, that set sanctions must also be clearly defined and followed as a consequence for breaking the rules for this technique to be effective. The use of reward is a good method of encouraging positive behavior, the use of praise, certificates and house points for example.
