Singam 3 , as the name indicates, is the third successful sequel flick and there is no need to question the power of the hero, right?
Doubt not, in Singam 3 aka SI3 , actor Suriya takes you through a mass-pleasing and racy ride, coupled with thrilling action sequences, but yes, for a little lengthy two-and-a-half hours.
Director Hari makes no surprise moves to hide his hero and Durai Singam is on screen again, packing a powerful punch, thrashing goons in Visakhapatnam at the very beginning of the plot.
The super cop continues to be the same – he's so ideal. In Singam 3 , the DCP is on the prowl for baddies as he investigates the death of a police commissioner.
The mighty local goon, Reddy (Sharat Saxena), is in full control of Visakhapatnam. One better not speak against the villain who has in his control the ministers, the police and top bureaucrats. But Durai Singam pays no heed and is straight on his road of action.
Having his way through Reddy is easy for Durai. It is towards the interval the officer realizes that there is a super-technical brain Vittal (Thakur Anoop Singh), a leading iron exporter based in Australia, taming Reddy down in Vizag. At this point, the action sequel takes a shift in its setting to Australia to hunt down Vittal. The newly entered baddie is not easy at all. His missions, like dumping medical and electronic waste in India, are so destructive and unfold on an international scale.
An ideal hero, Durai is portrayed as a true patriot. 'I'm an Indian police officer', is a dialogue to which he often clings. Love for the state and love for the nation is an apparent theme. (Pause and recall Shah Rukh Khan's hockey coach from Chak De India ). “Don't you even feel ashamed to speak low of the country at a time when even schoolkids are responsibly keeping chocolate wrappers in their pockets to dispose them back home,” are dialogues only Durai can hoist with style.

How Durai Singam had the last laugh: Suriya shares the insider story
Interview with Singam director Hari
And one by one, the villains are dealt with, in uproarious Singam style. Whether it be the local Reddy or a global Vittal, they all get the special treatment from Singam, the mass hero. It is with enormous power and might that Durai takes a highly influential Reddy, who doesn't mind shuffling around police officials of the state, to the prison.
Respect to women is on Singam's top priority list and there is no compromise for even pointing fingers at a woman.
Playing to the gallery, director Hari successfully manages to make Durai react and fight all injustice. Believe us, it is hard to pen down the thrilling action sequels Durai has attempted. Suriya is fit and flawless in fights that come and go any moment. Anushka Shetty as Kavya Durai Singam has a very limited screen space, and she is always in support of her valiant husband.
Shruti Haasan as journalist Vidhya sadly cannot be credited for any meaningful performance. Thakur Anoop Singh is perfect on muscles but the clap goes to Suriya, especially for the fight sequels toward the climax.
Question not the logical elements, you can enjoy and may be even whistle as Durai unwinds and untangles all the barriers in front of him. Whether it be hacking servers crossing the seas, sensing an approaching bullet, driving a trailer or shooting at someone inside a vehicle miles away from him - if you are a hard core Durai fan, you will not be disappointed.
Songs by Harris Jayaraj merely fit into the plot. The supposedly peppy Wi 'Wi Wi Wi Wifi' song featuring Shruti and Suriya may be an eye candy, but one can't help but take notice that the track is so similar to 'Kannum Kannum Nokkiyal' from Anniyan , which also had Harris as the music director.
A spotless Durai, fighting larger crimes in an international locale, hunting down a tough villain forms the crux of the movie. Go ahead, watch DCP Durai Singam in all power, if you are ready to spend 2-and-a-half hours keeping logic and reason at bay. After the movie, just one question remains - when will we get to see Kutty Singam?

'Singam 3' Review: Suriya Roars!
Movie: Singam 3 Rating: 2.75/5 Banner: Studio Green Cast: Suriya, Anushka Shetty, Shruti Haasan, Radhika, Sharad Saxena, Thakur Anoop Singh, Suri, Sharat Babu, Vijay Kumar and others Cinematography: Priyan Music: Harris Jayaraj Editing: V T Vijayan Fights: Kanal Kannan Producer: Malkapuram Sivakumar, Gnanavel Raja Story-Screenplay-Direction: Hari Release date: Feb 09, 2017
Suriya and Hari have created "Singam" series seven years ago and the franchise has become hugely popular in all languages.
The first movie in the series was successfully remade in Hindi too. So, ever since the third installment was announced, the fans and general audiences have been waiting for its release.
Although the movie got postponed several times, the expectations on the movie have not diminished. So has the third part lived up to the standards set by the earlier parts? Let's find out.
Story: DCP Narasimham (Suriya), who belongs to AP cadre, is sent to Mangalore city when some gang kills the city's Police Commissioner. As per rule, he cannot work in another state, but he is sent to Mangalore on central deputation.
Narasimham is married to Kavya (Anushka) but he tells everyone that he is divorced so that the gang would leave his wife.
In Mangalore, comes to know about MS Reddy (Sharat Saxena) and his link with Australian businessman Vittal Prasad (Thakur Anoop Singh).
The Australian businessman is dumping all the medical waste and other scrap from Australia in Mangalore. This whole nexus is interlinked with the killing of Police commissioner. How DCP Narasimham cracks the case is the rest of the story.
Artistes’ Performances: If there is no Suriya, there is no Singam movie. He is the epitome of an angry young cop. As Narasimham aka Singam, he has lived in the role in the earlier versions and he is even more aggressive in this third part too. The movie is completely Suriya's show.
Anushka who was also seen in the earlier two movies has played her continuation part but hers is minor role here. She looks very stout.
Shruti Haasan's is regular masala movie heroine's character that we see in Hari's movies. She has played the journalist role but mostly does what Hansika did in the second part. Radhika and other actors have done their job well.
Technical Excellence: Major feature of "Singam" movies has been the high-octane action episodes shot with high technical values.
Kanal Kannan’s action stunts are the main strength. He has come up with some good action episodes, while the cinematographer Priyan has filmed them in an equally grand way and those are edited with sharp pace.
The slick editing and rich photography are noticeable. Music by Harris Jayaraj is bad.
Highlights: Suriya's performance as Singam Better second half Classy taking Racy action episodes
Drawback: Weak story Dull first half Shruti and Anushka both lack appeal
Analysis: The first and second parts in the "Singam" series have already prepared us what to expect from this third. While the first movie "Yamudu" was 100 percent paisa vasool cop drama, the second instalment was pretty average.
The third part also goes in same way but the racy action episodes and rich visuals in the second half make this movie worth a watch.
Truth be told, there is no dhum in the story at all. But director Hari makes the movie racy, giving us no time to think but enjoy Suriya's action and performance. As always, Surya carries the entire film on his shoulders with his terrific charisma.
Since story is single point - bringing down the Australian businessman, there are no major twists and turns in the screenplay. This has made the movie seem lengthy. Despite typical Tamil style comedy track, it is Suriya who makes the movie interesting.
His aggressive performance, damn fit look, and terrific screen presence score over everything. And the action sequences deserve special mention. The container chase sequences are mind-boggling in the second half. The proceedings post-interval are super-racy.
There are many clap-worthy moments post-interval too. Though overall, the movie is not as gripping as the first part. But if you are fan of Suriya or Singam series, you will not be bored.
The director has completely followed the same template of earlier two movies but he has shot the film with classy production values. Though songs are shot richly, they are not catchy.
On the downside, the movie doesn't have any novelty; it follows the same path of the first two parts. In the second part we have Hansika trying to win the love of Suriya, here Shruti Haasan fills in her shoes.
In earlier part, Suriya goes to some African country hunting the main villain; here he goes to Australia to do the same hunt.
As said earlier, director Hari’s grip in handling action episodes with high technical strength and extracting best output from heroes has helped this movie too. After "Yamudu", Suriya has shown high energy now.
All in all, "Singam 3" works due to never-a-dull-moment in the second half, Surya's excellent and fab performance and Hari's racy narration. This is paisa vasool for Singam lovers.
Bottom-line: Only for Singam!

Singam 3 (Si3) Movie Review: Durai Singam's Return Packs The Same Punch!
Has the third installment of the singam franchise struck gold read our review of singam 3 to know more about this...
After many postponements, Suriya's much awaited movie Singam 3 aka Si3 , which is the third installment of the Singam franchise, has hit the theatres today (February 9, 2017).
The film, marks the return of the character Durai Singam, with more power and vigour. Different from the previous versions, the film's character has given the tag of a Universal Cop.
Singam 3 's plot begins with Durai Singam handling the investigation of a murder case. In the due course, Durai Singam unearths some shocking truths and he goes on a mission to grab the villain. What happens later has been narrated in Singam 3 in a racy pattern.
Read on to know how the cast & crew members of Singam 3 have fared for the movie..
Suriya As Durai Singam
Well, this actor never disappoints us. Even in Singam 3 , it is his power-packed, energy-filled performance that saves the movie in many occasions. The amount of hard work that he has put in for the action sequences is quite evident.
Anushka Shetty As Kavya Durai Singam
Anushka Shetty reprises her role from the previous two versions. As usual, she has given a very reliable performance but her character could have given more importance in the movie.
Shruthi Haasan As Vidya
While Shruti Haasan's character plays a character named Vidya, which has some importance in the main story line. The romantic angle between her character and Durai Singam looked forced. The actress was strictly average in her performance.
Thakur Anurag Singh As Vittal
Newcomer Thakur Anurag Singh looked perfect foil for the fearless cop Durai Singam. But, coming to the performance side, he was strictly average with the language constraint seemingly affecting him.
Rest Of The Cast
Apart from the above mentioned actors, Singam 3 also features Raadhika Sarathkumar, Nassar, Sharath Saxena etc., in important roles. Soori and Robo Shanker has taken care of the comedy department in the film. Disappointingly, the comedy track of the movie falls flat at most of the occasions.
Script & Direction – Hari
Hari is a master of commercial films. The writer in him has added all the necessary elements that would satisfy the fans. On the making side, his swift and racy narration won't give you the time to think much and will take you through a speedy entertaining ride.
Music Director - Harris Jayaraj
In fact, it is hard to believe that the songs have been set to tune by Harris Jayaraj. Only the song 'O Sone Sone' sounded good with the rest of the songs not living up to the standards. The BGM gave a racy feel, but at times, they were too loud.
Other Technical Aspects
Priyan, who had cranked the camera for Singam 2 also, has done a neat job in setting some speedy frames for the movie. V T Vijayan has done an excellent job in the editing department.
Overall View
Singam 3 isn't a different cop tale and the movie follows the exact pattern of the previous two films of the franchise, but this time offering a wide platform to Durai Singam to show his heroics.
So, all those who enjoyed the previous outings of Durai Singam are sure to enjoy this one, as well.
Even though not convincing to full extent, the film has addressed a serious environmental issue as well, for which the team of the movie deserves a good round of applause.
On the flip side many factors like the forced comedies, the romantic angle between Durai Singam and Vidya, out of the top action sequences etc., might look out of place, but they are there to fill the template of a perfect commercial potboiler. Hari's expertise in keeping the entertainment quotient intact is sure to hit the right chords with entertainment seeking audiences.
But, above all, it is Suriya who ensures that the movie sails smoothly, with his amazing screen presence and powerful performance towering above everything else.
Singam 3 is sure to entertain the fans of Singam franchise. With Suriya in full-form, Singam 3 packs the same punch like its prequels.

SI 3 Tamil Movie
Once again Suriya has sported the handlebar moustache and a Khaki avatar for Hari's Singam 3 or for some unknown reason named as Si 3. How successful should the past two editions of the film be for the movie makers to come up with a third one and that too with the same star? Barring all the crassness, brassy dialogues and caricaturish characters, the movie has certainly come a long way since its introduction in 2010.
Do you really care about the movie's plot? Actually, it was not so bad a plot. The movie carried a disclaimer at the beginning stating that though a major part of the film is depicted to happen in Andhra, characters would be conversing in Tamil for audience's understanding. Not sure if Hari has run out of ideas for pitching his tent within Tamil Nadu or are there no real issues in Tamil Nadu to match Duraisingam's stature?
Anyway, the movie has been set in Andhra and our universal cop, Duraisingam has been deputed by the CBI to function with the Andhra police (a logical check). He investigates the murder of a police officer whose family is also threatened. He finds out an international conspiracy during the course (an Australian connection to be precise) and carries out trademark Hari's surgical strikes on the baddies with punchable dialogues!
I feel that it's only foolish on my part to complain about things like character sketch, plot points and miseen scene in such a movie. All that Hari seems to care for is an enviable pace. I truly envy the pace at which the screenplay was shot and edited.
Probably the cinematographer would have let his drone do the talking rather than caring about lights and background. The shots were so erratic that it doesn't allow one to even think about what has just happened. This helps the movie to a large extent in getting away with whatever magnitude of naivety that it throws at us.
It was quite amusing to read between lines on the continuity aspect of this sequel.Though Suriya was shown getting married to Anushka in the previous part, who wants a Kollywood hero or a heroine depicted as a family man/woman at the start of a movie? Then what is the purpose of a second heroine or the naive ShrutiHaasan, who gets to promptly confess at the end with an apt dialogue - "I'm just a silly girl sir" - now, that was like breaking the fourth wall!
Then there was a whole host of songs choreographed in lush foreign locales, hampering the pace of the movie more often than not. It seems Harris Jayaraj was asked to compose after a deep slumber. One word for the BGM - cacophonic! Audiences are kindly advised to carry good quality earbuds to prevent acute aural damage.
Soori as the comedian, like in all Hari movies has tried to keep up with the pace. Jokes were just meant to function as fillers and in between, we do manage to get some laughs, more out of the silliness than the substance.
One convincing aspect was the villain from Australia who deals with high-tech wastes or e-wastes. He was like a silver lining on the whole episode. Yes, he was crass and loud like other villains, but he was by design an intelligent human being who deals with locations in latitude and longitude - a rarity in a Hari film. Also, he sported a brawny look and was an even match for Suriya.
Overall, this is a package that can be enjoyed by the masses who have lapped up the previous two editions of wild outings. For others, better to stay away.
